摘要:本文以“好汉两个半”中出现的语音歧义为研究对象,试图分析不同类型语音歧义的产生,并借助于Austin的言语行为理论探讨这些语音歧义的语用效果。文章从美剧“好汉两个半”剧本中搜集出34例语音歧义作为研究数据,在此基础之上本文分析总结出该剧中主要出现的三种语音歧义;并从言语行为理论的三种次行为。

Introduction
Language is a tool for conveying information,of which sound is the media of transferring.Therefore,a specific characteristic of language,i.e.ambiguity,is generated, since sound is unstable which may be affected by the external factors easily.Ambiguity is recognized as a common feature of human language and universal in all languages,and plays a vital role in language communication.It happens at different levels,such as phonological,lexical,grammatical,syntactic and pragmatic levels etc..
English is no exception.Ambiguity always exists in English because of the abundant English vocabulary and the unique sentence structure,which may bring difficulty to the smooth communication between the speaker and the listener.In the process of English learning and using,ambiguity inevitably exists.As English is a foreign language in China, the learners can be more easily misled to ambiguity and misunderstandings.
For the college students,the information about English phonology,lexicon,syntax,and even the western cultures are comparatively new.There is a very big diversity between English language and our mother tongue.This variance and the high sense of distance between different cultures make the students whose mother tongue is not English always be in an unstable situation while learning English.Different people or even the same person at different time may have different expressions or different understandings of the meaning of the utterance.
Thus ambiguity comes into being.Especially in our daily oral communication, phonological ambiguity is the most frequently occurred one.The learners often makemistakes and take them with a different meaning,which influence the effects of communication to some stages.Phonological ambiguity has become a difficulty for college spoken English or listening comprehension.In order to make sure the expression and the information transferring go smoothly,the speaker should spare no efforts to decrease the amount of ambiguity.The traditional approach of ambiguity studies is from the perspective of grammar,but certain theories in psycholinguistics,cognitive linguistics or pragmatics have provided some new perspectives for the study of ambiguity.
