This assignment has been designed to assess your understanding of the accounting cycle. Each student has a separate data sheet with a completely different list of transactions for the month of June. In all cases the business was purchased on June 1 and you are asked as the accountant of this business to design a manual accounting system that can produce monthly final reports. You are therefore required to:
1. Design a Chart of Accounts
2. Design appropriate journals to record the June transactions
3. Enter the opening balances including the Capital Account in the General Journal.
4. Record the June transactions into the appropriate journals that you have designed.
5. Post all the Journals into the General Ledger Accounts for the month of June.
6. Prepare an Unadjusted Trial Balance as at June 30
7. Using the Unadjusted Trial Balance, complete a 10 Column Worksheet. Ensure it contains all the additional information from your data sheet and shows the Income Statement and Balance Sheet figures.
8. Record the balance day adjustments in the General Journal and then post to the General Ledger.
9. Record the closing General Journal entries as at June 30 and then post to the General Ledger.
10. Prepare an appropriately classified Income Statement for the month of June.
11. Prepare a Statement of Changes in Equity for the month of June.
