Summary

* Valid applications pursuant to the New Issue on WHITE and YELLOW application forms for a total of 70,248,000 New Issue Shares have been received, equivalent to approximately 1.51 times of the total number of 46,500,000 Shares initially available for subscription under the New Issue.

* The initial 418,500,000 Placing Shares available to the professional and institutional investors for subscription under the Placing were also oversubscribed. Applications for a total of 795,150,000 Placing Shares have been received, equivalent to approximately 1.90 times of the total number of the initial Placing Shares. The total number of 418,500,000 Shares under the Placing have been conditionally allocated in full.

* The share certificates and refund cheques which are not available for personal collection will be posted by ordinary post to those entitled at their own risk on Thursday, 9 November 2000. Share certificates and refund cheques which are available for personal collection but not collected by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, 9 November 2000 will be posted to those entitled at their own risk shortly thereafter.

* The share certificates for the New Issue Shares allocated to applicants using YELLOW application forms are expected to be deposited into CCASS for credit to their designated CCASS Participants' stock accounts at the close of business on Thursday, 9 November 2000, or under contingent situation, on any other date Hongkong Clearing or HKSCC Nominees Limited chooses.

* Dealings in the Shares on the Stock Exchange are expected to commence at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 15 November 2000.
