1. Introduction
To be an effective leader in modern organization should know own strengths and understanding the other person’s strength is the key to becoming an effective leader. Only the hard work leader will be a good leader, not for lazy persons. Also people never believe a person who lacks moral self-discipline will lead an organization to be success.
2. Principles of leadership
Know owns’ boundaries. Each of us has its own intelligence, physical strength and ability of the boundary. It is usually get a special ability in some areas, however inadequate or even nothing in other areas. Only to recognize its limitations which the leader can truly know their power.
The pursuit of excellence. As a leader no one else usually to ask leader and to leader’s standards, but it does not mean that leader can relax requirements. For a leader, there are usually have two channels influence subordinates and employees, one is own personality that is soft stimulation, and the second is efficiency and quality standards that is hard incentive. Both of two channels are very important.
To persist own opinion. It means to persist right opinions, it’s nothing more respectable than a man’s obsession for a specific target and successfully pursue. This kind of pursuit is open and above board, provided that you must take into accounts the interests of others.
Enjoy the solitude. A special mission and the pursuit of excellence are often not understood, in some cases, to achieve higher goals, leader has to go to think independently, work, own misunderstanding and pressure. leader will feel very lonely, but this is the price of success.
Become a moral role model. People are inevitably made some irrational, irregular and not right things, but people’s moral demands on leaders and ordinary people are different. It’s easy to forgive ordinary people make a mistake, however for leaders, people always ask leaders to have higher requirements. This is out of respect, people expected of reverence is always perfect. The other is out of responsibility, as the leader in the organization of the responsibility is too great. People do not believe that a lack of moral discipline will lead an organization towards the right direction.
3. The Trait approach to leadership
Trait approach is one of the first systematic attempts to study leadership. It’s defined by “Great Man” which the meaning is focused on identifying innate qualities and characteristics possessed by great social, political, & military leaders. The trait approach has been changed since 1900s, there are 5 major leadership Traits in the model organization which are intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. A good leader will be good at using trait approach to bring more benefits to company.
