摘要:本论文研究采用相关性分析、高低水平作文组对照分析、案例分析等研究方法,对词汇知识的广度和深度与作文质量的关系进行了相关性研究,并探讨了高低水平组在词汇使用表现上的异同。

  高水平组作文组在作文中倾向避免使用复杂词,词汇错误较少;而低水平作文组在作文中更倾向使用复杂词,然而词汇错误也更多。这证明了复杂词的使用能够对作文质量产生间接的负面影响。

      Chapter One Introduction引言

  1.1 Background of the study研究背景
在外语写作对语言本身很重要。特别真实的语言为英语,以其丰富的词汇。因此,学习一种语言而不能够写出文章这真是不可思议的事情Writing in a foreign language is a magical key to many beautiful rooms of anenormous mansion: the language itself. This is particularly true for English, alanguage known for its rich vocabulary. Therefore, leaning a language without beingable to write in it is truly unimaginable. However, it is embarrassingly true that many English learners at low andintermediate levels in China are still struggling to put down their thoughts on anexamination paper or standard language tests like IELTS, TOEFL or GRE. In order topass these tests, many students would resort to the so-called “writing bibles” whichoffer good writing samples that cover topics that are likely to occur in tests.https://www.51lunwen.org/wordings/   As aresult, many of the contents produced by Chinese learners are highly similar to eachother. A good example is that several years ago 64 students’ GRE test scores arecancelled because of their similar writing content and a good number of these studentsare Chinese.English teachers in China often encounter the following situations when they arerating their students’ English compositions. Firstly, the composition is likely todisplay limited range of vocabulary, leading to ubiquitous vocabulary errors thatobscure meaningful expression. Secondly, the writing lacks syntactic complexity orvariety and overuse of fixed phrases or sentence patterns can often be expected. Lastbut not least, the writer seems to be too occupied with the correctness of the languageto focus on expressing their original ideas. This leads to an overall impression that thewriting is poorly produced without any new or interesting contents. What bothers Chinese college students most during writing? According to asurvey conducted among 9 colleges and universities in Northern China (ZhangXuemei, 2006), students admit that writing is one of the most difficult parts of Englishlearning. Among the factors that they encounter in writing, 71% of them will facevocabulary inadequacy in the effort of delivering a thought; 47% of them find thattheir vocabulary in use is not appropriate and lacks native-like authenticity. The responses from students are not difficult to explain. Vocabulary is truly animportant part of Foreign Language Writing (FLW). Firstly, lack of new ideas isclosely linked to vocabulary learning problems in that when a thought is vaguelyformed, the only way to capture the thought is through correct and appropriate worduse. Moreover, vocabulary learning is also part of cognitive development and howmuch vocabulary a person knows and knows well often decides how far a languagelearner can go in thinking and writing. In a nutshell, in order to form original ideasand successfully transform these ideas into words, English learners have a certainrange of vocabulary at their command.

1.2 Purpose and need of the study研究目的和必要性
The present study endeavors to address the puzzle of little equivalency betweenthe efforts done by students and teachers in vocabulary learning and the poor outcomereflected in English compositions. In particular, the study aims to examine the role oflexical knowledge in EFL writings among college students who are n论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
