Personally, I deem that it should be analyzed combining with concrete cases. When we can call it formal research, it can be called empirical research in the meantime. Empirical research, descriptive research and explanatory research make up the same population. When literatures are made use of, the overall assessment will not be too objective if some concrete real evidences are available.
