New Logistics Times: Green logistics
1.1 Introduction
With global socio-economic development, rapidly using up materials and causing 代写留学生论文increasing pollution, the ecological environment and human survival is facing serious challenges.  In this situation, in the 90’s of the 20th century, there has been a global rise of a "green wave" (Markley and Davis, 2007).  Sustainable development is becoming a priority for national Governments.  Enterprises and the public ought to be concerned by this and pursue the goal of sustainable development.  Green Logistics is the green movement’s infiltration into the area of logistics.
Most developed countries have advanced their green logistics since the 90s; the companies in those countries have a full set of mature green logistics system so far, but in China, the green logistics system of many companies is still at the initial stage (Ruriani, 1999).  With China’s rapid economic development, environmental issues and resource problems have become the major problems.  Therefore, Chinese companies need to pay more attention to this area and develop their green logistics system to relieve these problems.

Green Logistics is an important part of sustainable development.  Green Logistics, green manufacturing and green consumption constitute a circulatory system of the green economy with resource conservation and environmental protection (Green logistics, 2008).

Sustainable logistics brings lots of benefits to economy, society and environment.  If Chinese companies can improve their green logistics strategy, it is good for avoiding climate change, reducing noise, waste and land use, keeping air quality and biodiversity on the environmental protection, the society also gets the benefits from green logistics, less pollution will bring a safer environment to people and they will be healthier (Green Logistics, 2008).  Green Logistics could reduce costs and improve efficiency of logistics enterprises.  It attaches importance to the general logistics cost reduction, and pay more attention to green and the resulting energy-saving, high efficiency, less pollution.
