Novel WV Film for Wide-Viewing-Angle TN-mode LCDs

Abstract
We have developed a new Optical compensation film called "WVEA"film for TN-mode TFT-LCDs, which gives higher contrastratio, wider viewing angle characteristics美国留学生光学科技应用论文代写 and improved colorshift than the predecessors, especially in the horizontal direction.These features of the new WV film were achieved by hazereduction and optimizing optical characteristics of polymerizeddiscotic materials layer and TAC film totally. And these featuresare suitable for large size and wide aspect ratio LCD monitorsand LCD TVs.

1. Introduction
LCD monitors have mostly replaced CRT monitors in PC monitormarket, and over-17-inch monitors are becoming the mainstreamin the market. TN-TFT panels with Wide View (WV) films arewidely used in these monitors.The performance of the WV film has improved with the progressof the TN-mode LCDs. For example, although initial type WVfilm was attached to a polarizer using adhesive, recent TAClesstype WV film combined functions of optical compensation andprotection of polarizing PVA is directly attached as a protectivefilm onto polarizing PVA film in the roll-to-roll process (Fig.1).And viewing angle was improved in WV-SA, and the two kind ofMura; one is "light-leakage" caused by shrinkage of the polarizingplate and the other is "thickness fluctuation" caused in the processof discotic compound coating was improved in the thin type WVfilms1-3).In over 19-inch monitors, IPS or VA mode was mainstream. Butrecently, even LCD monitor needs motion picture performanceand high luminance for watching DVD or TV contents, TN modeused because it is easy to realize faster response time of LCD.In these situations, market needs a new wide view film for TNmodeLCDs suitable for large size, wide aspect ratio LCDmonitors and LCD TVs, then we have developed andcommercialized a new WV film called WV-EA improved viewingangle and contrast ratio. We will report the features of the newWV film improved optical performance and technologies realizedthe new WV film.

2. Target of a new WV film
We have developed on target as follows
(1). Improvement contrast ratio on axis
(2). Over 80 degree viewing https://www.51lunwen.org/Optical/angle (CR >10) all around azimuth angle.
Especially improvement horizontal viewing angle and color shift for wide aspect ratio LCD monitors and LCD-TVs.
