ll be attached at the end of this thesis, which are all the CETBand 4 composition titles.the application of TBLTA, the students in tested group can master the use ofsubjunctive mood much better than their counterparts in the reference group, theapplication of the English grammatical item is become more frequent and thenormalized frequency in TG is even higher than that in LOCNESS. This result showswithout doubts that the TBLTA is a much effective and scientific approach for theChinese EFL learners to overcome the obstacles in the use of subjunctive mood.


6.8 Summary总结

In this chapter also the second part of the whole study, for a start, the author has areview of the previous studies on the teaching of subjunctive mood and pointed outthe advantages and disadvantages of each method. Then on the basis of the previousanalysis of the possible causes in chapter six that lead to the EFL learners’ errors, thecountermeasures for the Chinese EFL learners to overcome the obstacles in theapplication of SM in their writing will be put forward. Finally the diachronic corpus-based approach will be invited to test whether the countermeasures are effective withthe help of the compositions by the author’s 100 non-major students, which arecollected during their first four semesters in their university life. The findings showthat the TBLTA, when applied properly in the classroom environment in Chineseuniversity, is quite effective for the Chinese EFL learners to overcome the obstacles inthe application of the subjunctive mood.

在本章中,笔者将在以前的研究中的主要发现在光的研究问题,其次对英语教学和学习的影响将被列出,最后本研究的局限性会提到一个总结。In this chapter, the author will make a summary of the major findings in previousstudy in light of the research questions, secondly the implications for English teachingand learning will be listed out, finally the limitations of the present study will bementioned.


7.1 Major Findings主要成果

在本研究中,我们得到两个主要结论:第一,英语虚拟语气在中国学习者语料库(CLEC)和原生语料库(LOCNESS)的应用程序的数量和统计模式的探索进行,此外笔者重视并努力解释和例证定量模式。In the present study, we get two major findings:First, the exploration of the quantitative and statistical patterns of the applicationof the English subjunctive mood in Chinese learner corpus (CLEC) and nativecorpus (LOCNESS) is carried out; in addition the author paid much attention andeffort to explaining and exemplifying quantitative patterns. The findings indicate that:Chinese EFL learners have a tendency to underuse, misuse and avoid applying thegrammatical item-subjunctive mood in their compositions. From the perspective ofthe interlanguage theory, some factors count for the EFL learner’s errors in their SLAprocess, such as the interference of L1 (negative transfer); the interference fromlearner's limited knowledge of target language, interference of native or foreignculture; impact from learning, communication mode, attitude, etc; inappropriate orinadequate explanation about target language from the teacher or teaching material(Lu Jianji, 1984).Six types of English SM errors in the CLEC have been analyzed in the study.With the help of Wordsmith, concordance software, the author has major concern onthe analysis on the acquisition of the SM by the Chinese EFL learners.On the basis of James (1998) theory, the author explores into the analysis of thepossible reasons that contribute to the errors concerning about SM.
