本文着重探讨了初中英语教学过程中班内隐性分层教学方法的运用。


Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Research Background
As the rapid development of society and cultures,great changes have occurred on the Education since the education reforms which advocated quality-oriented education.More and more people realize the very importance of the effective teaching
and learning improvement,public interests have focus,as perhaps never before,on the implement of quality-oriented education.The English Curriculum Standard(2001) points out:“As the basic education,the aims of English in Junior schools are not merely to make students know some foreign words,but improve the students’overall development in mentality,attitudes and individual values in response to the trend of quality-oriented education.The New English Curriculum put more attention than before on improving the humanity of overall qualities besides the basic knowledge and skills of language.
The essential characteristic of quality-oriented education is to cultivate healthy and creative personality of students.It is defined by the former deputy director of the National Committee of Education,Liubin,when he replied Chenzhili,the former Minister of Education in 1998 as“the education of all students and to conduct a comprehensive education,to develop students'skills and knowledge is merely the external manifestation of it,the essential characteristics is to cultivate the values of health,personality,creativity.The purpose of the implementation of quality education is to improve the quality of students and to train highly qualified personnel for the society”.Therefore,as Yelin put it in 1999,the quality-oriented education is the reflection of the democratization in education,where the teaching is an effective means to create the conditions for the development of overall students.It is necessary to implement effective teaching methods so as to undertake the responsibilities entrusted to us.
The phenomenon we often encountered in the English teaching of the Junior schools is that part of the outstanding students cannot show their advantages,on the contrary,some other ones are unable to understand the teaching materials due to the unified teaching designs.With the different foundation of the students in the Junior Middle schools,the uniform teaching methods cannot satisfy the meets of all students.
We adopt the graded instruction in response to the differences existed among the students,for it is based on students’such individual differences as intelligence, knowledge foundation,personality and psychology,etc.the graded instruction can either be used at a classroom level or the whole grade level.It is actually a teaching administration mode and teaching organization form.Used at the level of whole grade, the students of different levels in the same grade are put in different classes according to their performance.Teachers do not have to cope with students’individual differences for students are studying in the similar levels.
