摘要:本文是初中英语教学论文,通过比较分析 CBI 的四种模式和进一步讨论主题模式的特点和理论以及实际应用,本文认为主题模式更适合初中英语阅读教学并进行了应用研究。

2.2 Theme-based Model of CBI
The theme-based model is the most widespread model of CBI. It suits students at the university level, the secondary level and the elementary level. Four main characteristics of it is elaborated in the following, as well as the rationales behind it.The theme-based model distinguishes from the traditional model in many aspects. To generalize the typical features, many specialists have exerted efforts to study on effective theme-based model instructions. Crandall & Tucker (1990) have listed eight features involving multiple objectives, authentic materials, media techniques and other perspectives. Stryker & Leaver (1997) have summarized three characteristics. The first is that the content instead of the language forms and functions becomes the center of a class. The second is providing authentic language materials and tasks. The last is meeting the needs of students. Richard & Rodgers (2008) also have explained their understanding that the theme-based model of CBI leads to more effective language learning and it better reflects ESL students’ needs and interests.
