摘要:本文是初中英语教学论文,在本研究中,笔者结合英语写作教学旨在帮助学生减少英语写作,提高写作水平模块。近年来,以学生为中心的课堂要求学生在表达思想的自由拥有更多的选项。一些专家说,写作是一个需要学生去发现和探索过程中,相反,传统的方法削弱了思想的表达,甚至会扼杀学生的创新。

Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Research background
It is known that English writing is one of the four skills an English learner mustgrasp. Writing not only plays an important role it is also the most difficult skill forlearner to master in language learning, therefore writing ability is one of the targets toevaluate whether a learner have mastered a language. However, in traditional Englishclass, the English writing class does not attract much students and teachers’ attention,which makes students, who with little motivation to interact with each other, poor inskills and materials (Alison, 2000). Furthermore, English writing teaching has aknotty problem that students need to get authentic target language thinking wayswhen students are required to write a composition in a foreign language, for example,expressing ideas logically and creatively, besides they need basic writing knowledge,like choosing right words, making appropriate sentences and expressing innerthoughts accurately. Above all, that’s why students feel it more difficult to write inforeign language than that in a mother tongue (Shen, 2010). Therefore, how tocultivate and enhance English learners’ writing ability effectively is a hot topic for theresearchers.In China, the writing ability of the junior high students falls behind internationalstandard. Students and teachers usually focus on the other three skills, ignoring thewriting ability. Because of real teaching conditions in China, such as the large-class,poor teaching conditions in some areas and so on, the students’ English writing abilityis increased not very obviously. Thus, students taught in those circumstances aremuch easily have English writing blocks.

1.2 The purpose and significance of the research
From global vision, in traditional English writing teaching approach, teachers notonly teach new words, rhetoric, grammar and writing skills but also present excellentcomposition to analyze, then design a similar topic for students to imitate. Theapproach had been making a significant achievement in the process of English writingteaching practice. But in recent years, student-centered class requires students possessmore options in expressing thoughts freely. Some experts say writing is a creativeprocess needing students to discover and explore, on the contrary, the traditionalapproach weakens the ideological expression, even will stifle student’s innovation.But the traditional approach is not good for nothing, such as imitation, which providesstudents with valuable input materials and lets students know how to write and whatto write. Therefore, a teaching approach reform is urgently needed now.As to our country’s English teaching. As mentioned above, most students’English writing proficiency is substandard, and English writing is a big barrier formost of the junior high students to overcome in China. There are some blocks to theEnglish writing teaching in junior high schools in China, such as poor vocabulary,inaccurate grammatical knowledge, uncompleted sentences and unqualified format(Liu, 2013).The Memetics will not only guide learners to choose the most effectiveexpression, also tell learners to take the most effective way of learning (Sun, 2010). Inthis research, The author combines Memetics with English writing teaching aiming tohelp the students reduce English writing blocks and improve their writing proficiency.
