Chapter Four   Data Analysis and Discussion 

This  chapter  mainly  presents  the  data  analysis  and  discussion  of  the  experiment, which aims to demonstrate if the affective teaching is suitable for English reading in junior high school. 

4.1 Data analysis and discussion of the questionnaire 

There  is  one  questionnaire  in  the  thesis.  The  questionnaire  is  about  the  junior  high school students’ affective state in English reading learning. All the students in EC and CC were asked to do the questionnaire carefully. According  to  table  4.1,  before  the  implementation  of  the  affective  teaching  method, the average score of the CC group in the emotional state is about 3.46; while the average score  of  the  EC  is  also  about  3.45.  That  is  to  say,  the  two  groups  are  almost  at  the  same reading level before the experiment and there is no significant difference in emotional state between them. As can be seen from table 4.2, there is no significant difference between the CC and EC in each dimension of the emotional state (p>0.05) which can meet the basic conditions of carrying out the experiment. As for the 95% Confidence Interval of the Difference, the Lower  and  the  Upper  all  involving  a  zero  between  them,  which  further  show  the consistency in matters of emotional state of the CC and EC before the experiment.
