摘要:本文是初中英语教学论文,本研究以伊宁市第七中学九年级 100 名汉族学生和 100 名民考民维吾尔族学生作为研究对象,采用程晓堂和郑敏的英语学习策略调查表对 200 名研究对象的英语学习策略的运用情况进行调查。
1. Introduction
1.1 Background
Learning strategies research is one of the important topics in the field of secondlanguage acquisition (SLA) research and it has been recognized by the educational andpsychological fields. The purpose of SLA research is to make students become independentand effective learners. But in the past few decades, influenced by behaviorism, foreignlanguage teaching mainly focuses on how to teach rather than how to learn. At the same time,the traditional foreign language teaching just emphasis the teaching of language knowledgeand low-level skills, and ignore the students’ learning strategies and other advanced skillstraining, which led to the students are not able to study by themselves and good atlearning. The study of learning strategies began in 1970s. Todesco, Frohlich, Naimain, andRubin were known as the earliest researchers in the field of second language acquisitionresearch. In 1975, Rubin published his classic
essay titled What the good language learnercan teach us. In this paper, Rubin summarized seven strategies which the good languagelearners frequently used. After that, more and more researchers gradually shown theirinterests in investigating the learning strategies employed by language learners and theresearches on learning strategies have done a lot of empirical research from various aspects,then the study of language learning strategies has become a focus in the field of appliedlinguistics.Xinjiang is a region of China with 47 ethnic groups. Besides Han, there are 46 otherethnic groups known as the ethnic minorities. Ethnic Minority Students in Xinjiang are fromvarious cultural backgrounds. Some of ethnic minorities are native language dominatedbilingual students and others are Chinese dominated bilingual students. In present study,Ethnic Minority Students is the former, and they are called Minkaomin Uyghur Students.Native language dominated bilingual students have their own language and culturalbackgrounds; not only can they use their mother tongue, but at least they can use Chinese inverbal communications. While they can’t read and write Chinese. There some problems thatimpede them to learn English. For example, they didn’t learn English until they go to juniormiddle school, so it’s late for them to learn English; they are burden with heavy learning task;they lack learning motivation; and multi language interference. These problem have seriouslyaffected the Ethnic Minority Students’ learning achievement and learning effect. However,effective learning needs to use effective learning strategies.

1.2 Significance of the Study
The present research not only has academic significance, but practical significance.After reading a large number of relevant literature, the author found that there are a lot ofresearches on English learning strategies. Nowadays, researchers have obtained abundantsuccessful results about English learning strategies in China. However, most of researcheshave been conducted among college students. Most of studies, which targets at ethnicminorities students, mainly focus on minority college students. It is a common case thatEnglish learning strategies for junior middle school students have not been paid enoughattention. Therefore, this study could be taken as an example of English learning tactics forjunior middle school students in minority areas, and will enrich the English learning strategiesresearch about different g
