With the globalization, international financial regulation plays an increasingly essential role in the commerce, and there is a point of view that ‘The proliferation of https://www.51lunwen.org/cl/ international and supranational standard setting and regulatory bodies has done much to develop and add substance to the notion of international financial regulation.’ Virtually it does develop rapidly, however, I will argue that international financial regulation cannot be too over-stressed, and the rise of notion just meets the needs of the growing economy.

Introduction

In the modern society, especially after the financial depression which is caused by the US sub-prime crisis, more and more attentions are paid on the financial regulation. In fact, the standard setting was a domestic issue for each country until 1980s . However, with the financial liberalization and globalization, a large number of cross-border expansions and developments of financial institutions result in the ambiguity of the boundary between the traditional financial markets. That is to say, financial penetration and dependence between states have grown ever closer. However, the trends of transferring and expansion of financial risks have being continuously enhanced, so the traditional way to controlling the risk, which is based on the states, is not enough. Meanwhile, the technology, including the computer, network, e-business, provides possibilities for international financial regulation as well. Actually in the last couple of decades, International coordination and cooperation in financial supervision has been an unprecedented development. Especially after the Asian Financial Crisis which broke out in July 1997, the issue has aroused great attention around the world, as an effective financial supervision is the most powerful external constraint forces to prevent financial risks. In short, international coordination mechanism and international joint control as well as regional joint supervision have become an important trend of global financial market. The scope of financial regulatory cooperation has expanded from currency exchange rates and banking sector which is traditional sphere, to including banking, securities, insurance, foreign exchange.
