lking with one of my best friend in a coffee shop in China. We hadn’t met for a long time after I went on a study abroad. She mentioned that when she was walking around near her campus after dinner, she saw two little young boys who were begging for money and food: the older one was piggybacking his little brother. Out of pity, she gave them a large bill. When she had just walked only a small distance, she felt as if somebody was following her. She turned around and she found that the two kids were still following behind her not so far away. After they found that she was looking at them, they went straight up to her and kowtowed as they said: ” thank you for your kindness.” My friend said that at that moment, her eyes were moist. She said she would never forget that sight.
       I listened to her story and my eyes were wet. I remembered that before I had a little brother, this world is just a bustling world, and I was only a small piece in this world. However, when I become a brother, my love became as boundless as the sky and I felt like my role in this world increased. Beggars only have a very low social status and most Chinese do not treat them as common people. They even never care about their life. Two beggar brothers are only a small piece in this world. But I was still moved by the relationship between these two kids. They never abandoned their brother and never lost their grateful heart in such a bad situation. At the same time, I found that I am a very lucky man. I am living in a rich family that gives me the best living conditions. My relatives love me and my friends love me. I learned to be grateful for what I have in my life. It is hard to describe this feeling, it is kind of happiness mixed with sadness. Even though it is a little bit complicated, I truly felt happiness. This kind of gratitude which I learned from my friend’s story makes me much happier than before.
       There is an old Chinese saying:” happiness is ubiquitous, it is like a spring nourishing our lives. However, we just rush around and stand thirst.” Happiness often springs from allowing one’s self to be moved and that comes from a sensitive heart. Being good at appreciating the tiny things in life can help you obtain happiness in our life much easier. In this world, sometimes our bodies become tired and sometime our hearts are tired, but this is because our life is just like a long and difficult journey. When the clouds disappear though and the sun reappears, people may suddenly feel an unexpected happiness. Happiness is just like a warm current that comes over all our body. No matter it is the natural beauty of willow trees, or the process of our growing journey or the conscientious help to the bitters of life. They are all the tiny things which we may never pay attention to. They are all the fruits of happiness that were born on the “branch of touching”.
       People should pay more attention to the tiny things in their lives and they will definitely be moved by the beauty within these small things. There are many beautiful things in the world waiting to be found.
