摘要:在大学英语教学中,英语教材、课程以及考试大纲都应该做出相应的调整以适当增加中国英语和中国文化的相关内容,不断加大中国英语输入;教师与学生也应不断提高中国英语认识,加强中国文化和中国英语的学习,提高用英语表达中国文化的能力,以不断提高跨文化交际能力,传播中国文化。

Chapter One Literature Review文献评论


本章的目的是审查在世界背景下的中国英语的研究文献。首先,它使中国英语简介好适应这一领域的研究。然后回顾了中国英语在国内外的研究相关文献资料及对以往对中国英语的研究也进行了讨论。This chapter aims to review the literature in the study of China English in the world context.Firstly, it gives a brief introduction of China English to well accommodate this field of study.Then it reviews the relative literature of China English research both at home and abroad andlimitations of previous studies on China English are discussed as well.


1.1 Introduction to China English 中国英语介绍
Although the spread of English in China can date back to 1807, the study on China Englishis no more than a few decades, which is still in its initial stage. However, China English, as anew research subject, has aroused great attention of many scholars; what’s more, studies on itsdefinition, the comparison between it and Chinglish or Chinese English, and its characteristicsbecome hot topics in the academic circles at home and abroad.Definitions of China EnglishIt is generally acknowledged that,   https://www.51lunwen.org/daxueyingyu/te concept “China English” was firstly put forward byGe Chuangui in the thesis Talks on the Problems of Translation from Chinese to Englishpublished in Translation Bulletin in 1980, in which the “China English” phenomenon wasacknowledged. He considered that in China, there are always some typical Chinese things toexpress in oral or written English, such as 四书 ( Four Books), 五经 ( Five Classics), 八股文( “eight-legged essay”), 翰林院( “hanlinyuan” ), 白话文 ( “baihuawen” ), etc. Though hisstudy was restricted to the lexical level, he distinguished China English from Chinglish andblazed a trail in the study of China English.However, it seemed that the concept of China English did not arouse adequate attention in thefollowing decade. In 1989, the voice was echoed by Sun Li (1989), who held that researchshould be done on the English in China and English used in China had not yet been aninstitutionalized variety. Afterwards, studies on China English in a very real sense has flourishedin China.In 1990, Jia Desen used a new expression “Sinicized-Enlish” to refer to China English. In1991, Wang Rongpei gave the definition of “China English” in the article China English: AnObjective Existence: “the English used by Chinese people in China, with Standard English as thecore and having Chinese characteristics”.Li (1993) extended the study of English to syntactic level and defined China English as“[translation mine] having Normative English as its core, expressing the social and culturalmatters specific in China.” According to Li, China English is free from the interference andinfluence of the mother tongue, which is transferred into English language by means oftransliteration, loan translation, semantic regeneration, etc.Later, Jia and Xiang (1997) further pointed out that China English is “[translation mine] anEnglish variety used by Chinese learners, with the core of Standard English and having Chinesecharacteristics which are inevitable or beneficial to Chinese culture transmission.” Moreover, thisdefinition indicates that China English is objective and realistic.The latest definition given by Pan Zhangxian demonstrated a more comprehensive andprecise understanding of China English. Pan stated thatBy Chinese varieties of English, it means in its broadest sense English spoken or used byspeakers with a Chinese linguistic and cultural background around the world.
