Chapter Four Data Analysis and Discussions


4.1 Result Analysis and Discussion of the Questionnaire
The question of the pre-questionnaire used the five-point Likert Scale. Studentscan choose any one option of questions base on their own opinion and attitude. Whenthey answer questions they should answer all the questions and each question they canchoose only one option. Each question has five options from 1 to 5, 5 stands for“strongly agree”, 4 stands for “agree”, 3 stands for “neither agree nor disagree”, 2stands for “disagree”, and 1 stands for “strongly disagree”(5=5points, 4=4points,3=3points, 2=2points, 1=1point). The author divided the five-point Likert scale intothree scales so that people can get a direct and precise reflection of the responses.Mean scores of the questions between 1.0 and 2.4 indicate that the responses are bad,mean scores of the questions between 2.5 and 3.4 indicate that the responses areneither too bad nor too good and mean scores of the questions between 3.5 and 5.0indicate that the responses are good. Here is specific analysis of the three categories.All the questions are divided into three parts. The first part involves five questionswhich are about students' basic opinion and attitude about business English writingand the teaching method before and after the research experiment.

Conclusions


First, according to the data of the two tests it is easy to indicate that withproject-based learning, students in experimental class have gotten higher writing scoreand made bigger progress. Based on the data of test, students in experimental classhave made progress in all five aspects (content, organization, vocabulary, grammarand mechanics) of business English writing especially organization and content. Theirlinguistic skills have also been improved significantly. Although students in controlledclass have also made progress, their progress is smaller than students in experimentalclass especially in the aspects of organization and content.Second, according to the data of questionnaire and interview, it’s easy to indicatethat project-based learning can help students improve their many kinds of abilities.With project-based learning, students can learn knowledge by themselves andimprove their self-study ability. Within project-based learning, students need tocomplete projects together, so it can help students learn how to communicate witheach other, how to cooperate with each other and how to trust each other. In a word,students can learn the knowledge of dealing with the relationship. Project-basedlearning is the student-centered teaching method, students learn knowledge bypractice, so it can help student improve their abilities of searching and dealinginformation, practicing and creativity. In addition, project-based learning can gainconfidence of learning business English writing.
