摘要:本文是大学英语教学论文,笔者在大学英语教学实践中发现学生在英语语法学习中出现一些问题。主要如下:首先,语法学习效果差。学生将语法学习等同于学习语法规则,死记硬背语法规则,不仅记忆负担较大,而且效率低下。其次,学生语言表达准确性和流畅性不足。
Grammar is a new theoretical approach to language which isdeveloped based on cognitive linguistics. It holds that construction is a pairing ofform and meaning or function1. Many prestigious linguists have endeavored toestablish and develop Construction Grammar. Croft and Cruse divided currentconstruction approaches into the following four types: (1) Construction Grammarrepresented by Fillmore and Kay; (2) Construction Grammar represented by Lakoffand Goldberg; (3) Cognitive Grammar represented by Langacker and Taylor; represented by Croft2. Just as the name indicates,construction is the core notion of Construction Grammar. Different schools focus ondifferent issues when it comes to the definition of construction. Two definitions ofconstruction are adopted in the present study. They are identified below.1) Definition by GoldbergAccording to Goldberg, constructions are taken as the basic units of language3.Goldberg defines construction as follows:C is a Construction iff C is a form--meaning pair
such that some aspectof Fi or some aspect of Si is not strictly predictable from C's component parts or fromother previously established constructions4.

2.2 Some Important Usage-based Concepts
A final aspect of Construction Grammar that makes it related to languageteaching is its usage-based nature2. Usage-based theories propose that linguisticknowledge is shaped by language use3. The following concepts provide a clear pictureof usage-based theories.As a key concept of usage-based theories in language learning, the term“usage” requires further elucidation. The usage-based theories put emphasis on usageevents in actual use of linguistic expressions rather than conventional usage oflinguistic expressions. Usage event refers to a symbolic expression assembled by aspeaker in a particular set of circumstances for a particular purpose4. To some degree,a usage event is an exemplar or an utterance. It is a specific instance of language usewhich is embedded in a particular and cultural situation. Each time a usage event isused and comprehended, its representation will be changed in some way. If similarsets of usage events or exemplars occur with high frequency, learners will generalizeover these usage events and produce a new utterance. Croft & Cruse hold thatchildren first begin with low level generalizations based around a single predicate anda single construction where that predicate occurs, and only later acquire moreschematic categories and constructions1. Therefore, it is suggested that languagelearning is usage-based, or based on usage events, moving from specific patterns tofully schematic or abstract constructions.
