1.2 Research Purpose and Significance 
Firstly,  the  study  aims  to  testify  the  efficiency  of  flipped  classroom  model  on students’  spoken  English  proficiency.  However,  there  are  various  and  complex aspects  to  judge  spoken  English  proficiency,  so  it  is  difficult  to  consider  all  the aspects.  Accuracy  and  fluency  of  spoken  English  are  more  intuitive  and  explicit  to observe,  so  the  two  aspects  are  selected  and  focused  on  in  this  study.  Secondly, flipped  classroom  model  requires  students  to  finish  learning  tasks  on  their  own before  class,  so  students  experience  a  new  learning  process.  In  this  case,  this  study aims  to  analyze  students’  attitudes  to  flipped  classroom  model.  Thirdly,  flipped classroom  model  originates  in  America  and  is  introduced  to  China,  so  it  requires localization in Chinese environmental context. Therefore, this study aims to provide certain  suggestions  for  the  future  localized  flipped  classroom  teaching  in  Chinese college spoken English classes.  The study is significant in the following aspects. Firstly, flipped classroom is a promising teaching model and it promotes students’ active learning, so this study can be  a  Reference  for  the  promotion  and  application  of  flipped  classroom.  Secondly, though there are some studies about the application of flipped classroom model, still most of them focus on the theoretical level. Therefore, this study explores the effect of  flipped  classroom  on  students’  accuracy  and  fluency  of  spoken  English  through experiment.  The  results  of  this  experiment  reveal  real  conditions  and  effects  of applying  flipped  classroom  model.  Thirdly,  as  is  discussed  above,  college  spoken English  teaching  exposes  some  problems,  such  as  low  accuracy  and  fluency  of spoken English, poor spoken English ability, and low autonomy and engagement in class. Therefore, it is urgent to solve these problems with the aid of a new teaching method.  Flipped  classroom  model  sheds  a  new  light  on  improving  college  spoken English learning and teaching.
