People smuggling is the facilitation, transportation, attempted transportation or illegal entry of a person(s) across an international border, in violation of one or more countries laws, either clandestinely or through deception, such as the use of fraudulent documents.  People migration is not a new phenomenon. For centuries, in order to get better lives or get away from the political persecution imposed by the government of their home country or reunite with their family, people have been forced to leave their homeland for some places with more wealthy or freedom. In the last decade, the process of globalization increases the people’s contact and communication with the other world, and makes it more easily to enter into the other countries. So many people desire to seek the new opportunities in foreign countries. However, if they can’t have access to the desired countries by the legal channel, perhaps they will try to the illegal channel to get their aim, such as by people smuggling. Many criminal organizations utilize the thirsty of people for the new and better life to arrange their illegal passage to a country. Migratory workers and their families, many of whom are undocumented, are systematic targets of discrimination, racism and xenophobia.   In the process of people smuggling, some of them are raped, tortured and abused.
