CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION-
1.1 Background and motivation
The management emerged with the emergence of the social division. It changed with the development social productivity. Modern society has gone through three times: the era of industrial economy, the information economy and the era of knowledge economy. In the era of industrial economy, the main resources are capitals, lands and labors, the social productivity was lower, therefore, how to achieve the large quantities of production, how to reduce the cost and use the resources efficiently became the emphases of management. The mode of management of enterprises’ was the mode of scientific management whose representative was Taylor. To the era of the information economy, information has become the most important factor of production, how to obtain and make use of information has become critical. The productive mode of enterprises has been transformed into intensive mode form extensive mode. Enhanced the scientific and technological content of products, strengthened the information management, these two modes were widely used by enterprises. With the advent of the knowledge-based economy era, the management and development of traditional enterprise are no longer rely mainly on the capital, natural resources, labor and other traditional resources, but more dependent on the expertise, ideas and insights of these intellectual assets. Creation, dissemination and usage of knowledge has became the key element of enterprises’ core competence. The competition based on information has been transformed into knowledge-based competition,some business activities being improving and changing requires effective creation, organization, searching, exchange, sharing, making use of knowledge of new mode. In the era of e-commerce, the traditional
strategy theory which gives priority to the tangible products value-oriented can not adapt to the development of the knowledge-based enterprises which should give priority to knowledge-value. Accordingly, a new management which manages the e-business enterprises with knowledge management is needed.
