Today, the e-business is another hot topic in business area. Lots of scholars give lots of definitions of e-business. The simplest definition of e-business is that to use the internet or intranet to accomplish traditional business activities. (Chanxiong Lee, 1998) Base on Morgan Stanley Technology Research (1996), it point out that different type of electronic media spent different time that number of user reach to fifty millions: radio spent 35 years, TV spent 13 years, cable TV spent 10 years, but the internet only spent 5 years. Therefore, emergence of the internet fundamentally changes the method of information dissemination. E-business that base on the Internet can bring both short-term and long-term benefit for an organization. For instance, it allows organization easily to access new market segment and new customers (short-term) also it can improve the efficiency of organization. (Long-term) (Kosiur, 1997) e-business has changed the relationship between companies and customers. It is not only the channel of sales, media of
advertising or accelerating process of trading but also the foundation of new business system.
Same with knowledge management, before adopting e-business in an organization, the organization should have an appropriate assessment and plan; otherwise e-business is not only bringing benefit for the organization but also may harming the organization.(Yubao Qiu 1998)
Therefore, we can that knowledge management and e-business has similar character in aspect of information technology and process of encouraging organization. In the past, most researches were focusing on the two topics separately. Rare studies were to explore the relationship between them. Therefore my study will adopt knowledge management as theoretical function and assort with the position of organizations using e-business, we try to find what relationship is between knowledge management and e-business and how they affect each other.
Research objectives
Today, knowledge management and e-business are the hottest topic in management science, both of them are seen as potential powerful strategy that may bring or maintain great competitive advantage for an organization. Few researchers were studying on the both topics. Base on above research motivation, the goal of this study is to understand the relationship between knowledge management and e-business.
