Music as a form of art, it can bring a person the feeling of good feelings and experience, and melodies can make the person burst into tears, smile, remove the mood and calm down slowly. And the creation of the music comes from life, and higher than life. It needs a long time music edification and surging afflatus. Therefore, as a music learner, it is very important to be familiar with music melody and create those melodies which express feelings. So, as a scholar, we should go to take to evaluate students' this ability with appropriate assessment methods timely.
For this, I choose to use the method for the rhythm creation to evaluate students' grasping for music rhythm and melody. This assessment method can be divided into several stages. The first step is mimicking or deep creating based on existing works. I will give students some familiar melodies, then let them change the rhythm on this basis to recompose those melodies according to the different requirements. And this stage could evaluate students’ level for understanding the melodies of classical and typical works, the comprehension for the new feeling requirements and the execution with the musical notes. The second stage is assessing the students’ works. After collecting them, I will listen to those works with students together respectfully and make students feel those melodies and give their understanding to the works of others. Then we will make a little appropriate modification with them to deepen understanding. The next step is independent creating. I will give them only some subjects without examples and it would be that kind of thing kind of head charts, general plans and within that general plan a lot of freedom of expression. Some students could have the same topic for the subsequent comparison. Furthermore, those topics can play first start from simple.
This assessment method has some advantages. It makes students form a habit for expressing the mood and view with different rhythm and melodies. Such as a writer communicates with others through her/his words, musicians express the mood with musical notes. This method could make students understand their performance and according to the feedback to change their pattern and make great efforts. I will find out students specific circumstance and get some advice in order to make reasonable plan.The defect is some students the edification of the music literacy and not enough, may fear such assessment way, such psychological may go against free and creation. Therefore, I will in specific assessment process, random adjust the evaluation phase of the time and content, in order to achieve effective evaluation.
