Preparing For A Career In Teaching Education Essay

While working with students in a reading group, I inquired as to why a student was reluctant to read. They informed me that their reading skills were lacking in comparison to their peers and that this made them feel self-conscious. Because they felt inadequate they avoided reading, which caused them to further fall behind. Reading books at their grade level seemed to overwhelm them, causing them to adopt a defeatist attitude. I used easier books to show that reading doesn't have to be intimidating. They learned that if you start at the bottom and work your way up slowly, nothing has to be an insurmountable challenge. I repeatedly gave them positive reinforcement which seemed to boost their confidence. Their reading skills improved, but what had improved most was their willingness to read. They began to genuinely enjoy and seek out books. I learned that patience, positive reinforcement and really talking with a student to understand their struggles with certain subjects can help you better teach a child by understanding what subconscious mental blocks are in place.

By learning about the complexity of the learning process, I now have the ability to apply this when working in schools by emphasizing a job well-done while working on boosting self-image in order to help students more willingly tackle difficult lessons. This taught me how to provide necessary in class adjustment to meet the needs of the individual and at the same time stay focused on group learning objectives.

My deaf cousins have faced disadvantages in their lives due to their disability. In the Deaf community, where sign language is used, disadvantage is hard to perceive. At Deaf functions, hands fly telling colourful stories and demonstrate the power of a united community supporting one another. However, disadvantage is evident in situations where accommodations have not been made.

My cousins have shared stories regarding their education, which has provided me with a window into the challenging journey faced by Deaf students in the education system. As young children they were mainstreamed into a traditional oral language school program where they had to read the lips of teachers in order to understand their lessons. For years they did not understand most of what was being taught in the classroom. With the help and support of family, and supplementary work provided outside the school environment, they were able to support their learning and maintain their grades. With the aid of sign language interpreters while in high school and university, their ability to understand lessons increased dramatically.

I have come to realize that my cousins are extremely courageous and that their family's dedication to advocate for their learning needs, as well as having teachers that genuinely wanted them to论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
