Moment in Peking described three families of Yao, Tseng, New, from 1901 TaiPing Rebellion to 1938 Anti-Japanese war, over 30 years story. And in this book, also tell us the story of the TaiPing Rebellion, May 4th Moment and so on. The Moment in Peking is a panoramic display of modern Chinese social and expressed the changing of history. Since the end of 1939 in the United States the book was published, it had been sold over 50,000 in half a year. And TIME magazine had been said, “it may well become the classic background novel of modern China .”

A．Author introduction and creation background
Lin Yutang (October 3, 1895 - March 26，1976) Fujian Longxi people. Old name was HeLe(和乐), then named Yutang(玉堂)，after changed to Yutang（语堂）. 1912 he studied in St. John's University in Shanghai, then he graduated and taught in Tsinghua University. Autumn of 1919,he studied in the United States Department of Literature at Harvard University. In 1922, he was get a master's degree in literature. In the same year, he went to Germany, studied in the University of Leipzig, specialized in linguistics. When he got a doctor degree he returned to China , as a professor at Beijing University. He was a Head of the English Department in Beijing Women Normal University. In 1924 he became the author of "Yusi(语丝)". In 1926 he became the president of the literature of Xiamen University. Since 1935, in the United States he began writing novel in English, Moment in Peking, My People and My Country, etc. Then he died in Hong Kong in 1976.
