Therefore, English teaching andlearning in vocational school should concentrate on fostering students’ English listeningability.In English teaching and learning, listening plays an important role. It is an importantapproach for students to develop language communicative competence and improve theirability of using English in practice. It is stipulated in the newly revised Vocational SchoolEnglish Curriculum Requirements that English teachers should lay emphasis on thedevelopment of students’ listening ability. According to the Requirements, listening hasachieved the leading position in the whole system of language education and thedevelopment of English listening ability is the foundation of other kinds of languagecompetence. So it is necessary for students to improve their listening competence.
