Introduction 

1. Significance of the Research 
The Construction Grammar is such an energetic and influential theory in linguistics. A 了去了  is a Chinese construction and has its constructional meaning. What’s more, its constructional meaning can’t be predicted only from its components. When studying a  construction,  people  usually  study  its  composition,  it  origin,  and  its  constructional meaning, therefore, this thesis centers around the three issues. In fact, every component in A 了去了  is worthy of doing research on. As for the adjective A, we need to make sure what kind of adjective of A is, attribute adjective or status adjective. The two  了 have different functions in A 了去了.  去  here is not a verb, but an adverb. The Chinese construction A 了去了  can be structurally divided into [[[A 了]去]了], which consists of  three  levels.  Based  on  Grammaticalization  Theory  and  certain  cognitive  linguistic theory, that the Chinese construction A 了去了  stems from V 了去了. This evolutionary process includes three stages: from V 了  to V 了去/V 去了, from V 了去/V 去了  to V了去了, and finally from V了去了to A了去了. Appealing to the Theory of Subjectivity and  Subjective  Quantity,  we  think  that,  generally  speaking,  A 了去了  expresses speaker’s  subjective  exaggeration  of  the  property  denoted  by  the  adjective  A  in  the construction.  The  degree  of  property  that  A 了去了 expresses  exceeds  not  only  the hearer’s  expectation  but  also  the  speaker’s  prior  expectation.  The  meaning  of expectation  transcendence  further  implies  two  types  of  contrast  or  two  semantic asymmetries:  the  contrast  between  the  speaker’s  knowledge  state  and  the  hearer’s knowledge state, and the contrast between what is explicitly stated by the sentence and speaker’s prior information state.

2. Research methodology 
In  this  thesis,  we  will  use  the  theory  of  Construction  Grammar,  Metaphor, Grammaticalization, Subjectivity and Subjective Quantity to study A 了去了. From the diachronic  point  of  view  and  with  the  help  of  corpus,  we  refer  to  different  books  in different period of time to study the origin of A 了去了. After the present author’s statement about the significance of the research and the methodology  in  the  introduction,  Chapter  One  is  the  literature  review  which  contains the studies on A,  了, structure, Constructional Meaning and grammaticalizational path of A 了去了.Chapter two discusses the composition of A 了去了. We will discuss A,  了 and  去  in A 了去了, furthermore, the paper proceeds the syntactic structure of A 了去了.
