tual metaphor according to different scholars and perspectives. This paper chooses Lakoff and Johnson’s classification. The three types: structural metaphor, orientational metaphor and ontological metaphor are divided by Lakoff and Johnson who also used many examples to interpret the functions of those metaphors. Structural metaphors deals with the cases where concepts of source domains are metaphorically structured in terms of another. It indicates that we can use structures of source domain to conceptualize that of target domain. Structural metaphors can orient concepts, refer to them, quantify them and so on. In addition to that, structural metaphors help us to use highly structured concepts to structure other concepts. Some examples of this kind metaphor are: LIFE IS A JOURNEY, TIME IS MONEY, ARGUMENT IS WAR. Orientational metaphor is also called Spatialization metaphor. It organizes a whole system of concepts with respect to another. It is largely related with spatial orientations.
