摘要:The idea of a woman fighting against the odds to become independent and successful on her own is not too far to achieve. She is not only successful in wealth and position, but also in family and love.

as a means to financial independence and to help support her sibling. The responsibility of taking care of her sisters has a great effect to her life and creativity. And also, this was the experience that helped her to write.
In 1836, charlotte wrote several poems to the famous poet—Robert Southey, because she admired him a lot. Unfortunately, he wrote back, told charlotte stop writing things but be a humble woman, stay in home, feed the children, that is the women’s responsibility. It was a great blow to her when she got the reply, but she didn’t stop writing. In contrast, she table a proposal to question what is the real responsibility of women, directly appeal for equality.
She could continue her writing because of her independence and perseverance. She was not afraid of what the man said to criticize her. Her spirit was encouraged women a lot.
 3.1.2 Her Works
Her life experiences had a great effect on her works. And her most famous work is Jane Eyre. This book has molded a woman’s image. She pursued firmly to the pure love, the self - value and dignity. That was the example which the contemporary female should study.
Jane Eyre was set during the Victorian Age, when a woman’s role in the society was restricted and class differences were obvious. For Charlotte, she created a good background for Jane, being a governess. Governess was one of the only few respectable positions available to the educated but impoverished single women. In such positions, women had got the chance to work with the upper class, and the conflicts were easy to arouse. It is said that where is oppression, there is rebellion. Jane Eyre was the typical example of the saying. When she was still a girl living with her uncle and aunt, her unfair treatment from the aunt and cousin and prejudices from the servants make her eager to be equal to others. When she studied at Lowood, Miss Temple and Helen Burns teach her to respect and get respect from others. Her desire to have equality becomes stronger. At Thornfield, when she meets Rochester, her strong desire burst out.
At Fern dean, as they got to know each other Jane started to feel attracted towards her master, and Rochester admired her intelligence and wit. She missed him when visiting her dying aunt and he attempts to make her jealous by pretending to be in love with a local heiress, Blanche Ingram. Their differences in age and position were eventually reconciled and Jane accepts Rochester’s proposal of marriage. But at the wedding, Mr Richard Mason announced that Rochester was already married to his sister, Bertha. It emerged that Mrs Rochester is mad, and kept locked in the Thornfield. Rochester begs Jane to go abroad with him and be his mistress, but she tells him that she would be unable to live with herself if she did.  In order to preserve the self – respect and the personality, she chose resolutely to leave in a hurry. In Charlotte Bronte’s opinion, woman, like any decent man, cannot live without self-respect.
Later John proposed repeatedly but Jane gave the firm rejection, because she could not accept the marriage which didn’t have love to be used as the basis. She was also not willing to live with him without happiness, equality and freedom for a lifetime. At the beginning Jane resisted the temptation of becoming Rochester’s mistress, but she come back to Thorn field later. Now Rochester lost all his property and his论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
