In terms of territory and finance, “Great Britain” ranked the first place in the world. However, what is the value of “empire without sunset” and “million pound sterling” in cold wind? When will Britain which takes finance as pillar industry re-create its past splendor and even that just before 2008? Or could it re-create splendor? People are waiting expectantly……

Introduction

In the process of world financial banking development, the British has been played an extremely important role. It is provided with abundant content and long historical history, what is more, also all the characteristics of World Bank system development, and finally, it deeply affects the development of World Bank system in the unique development form of “Natural Structure Mode”. Therefore, it can be surely interpreted into that, the British is the cradle of modern bank system. Financial service sector is one of the pillar industries for British economy. Since the British Financial liberalization in 1986, known as “Big Bang” in the industry, the financial industry has fast developed gradually. London, as the capital, has not only been developed into the financial service center in the world, but also an important global financial trading market. At the same time, British financial industry not only covers all aspects in the financial field, but also both its development scale and internationalization degree rank top in the world. However, as the core economic form for the high level in financial system, the banking industry must be supported by relatively solid economic base for healthy, smooth and fast development. After 17th century, deeply affected by the opening up of new waterway and the “Business Revolution” caused hereby, the significant development in British agriculture, industry, especially the trade and the extension of large-scale world market, which not only established solid material and system base for the primary formation of British modern financial system, and meanwhile, complied with the internal requirement for establishing capitalistic financial system adapting to the new social development requirement.

Why British banking industry is so thriving? Why London can be the international financial center with prosperity for such a long time?
