Respondent: You are welcome; I also take your interview as an opportunity to introduce my factory to more customers.

Respondent: Ok. As you know, my factory is named ‘Baoying hardware factory’ (henceforth Baoying hardware), it was established in 1987 in Dongguan, Guangdong Province.
Interviewer: What did it specialize then, how about now?
Respondent: It specializes in manufacturer of electroplate hardware.
Interviewer: How many employees in your factory? Are they all technical workers?
Respondent: Yes, there are 150 technical workers in our factory.
Interviewer: Are you the founder of the factory?
Respondent: No, The factory was affiliate to one of the state owned corporation which broke up in 1996. Then, I took over this factory and registered it as a private enterprise.
Interviewer: So where do your main customers from?
Respondent: Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Interviewer: What have you got from your partner?
Respondent: Through cooperating with Hong Kong partner, our factory got a lot of knowledge and experience from management and production.
Interviewer: how about your export volume?
Respondent: In recent years, Baoying starts to get orders by way of opening international bid. The product export accounts for 90 percent of our total turnover.
Interviewer: OK. How about total annual sales?
Respondent: Our total annual sales has achieved top 100 of this industry.
Interviewer: Thank you very much. As I know, in 1990s, the sales situation of your company’s was not as good as today’s.
Respondent: Precisely speaking, in the early nineties, the sales of our factory was not ideal, and products were mainly sold in domestic markets, subjecting to the impact of competition, the products were unsalable once.
Interviewer: So, how did you drive the factory from the difficulties?
Respondent: Since 1995, I began to investigate the production and operation status of Baoying’s. In the investigation I found that, the quality of Baoying’s products have a good reputation in the industry, but the products are mainly sold in domestic markets, and dues to the impact of triangular debts and other factors, financial difficulties happened now and then; and I also found that the sales channels of Baoying’s were single, customers could only through channels such as trade fairs to know Baoying’s products, every year, it spent a certain amount of funds on the sales staff’s participation in a variety of trade fairs but acquired little effect. After implementing a deep research on the reasons leading to Baoying’s operation difficulties, I thought it over, to drive the factory out of difficulties, the most important thing was to broaden sales channels of products and improve product visibility, in the process of sales promotion, the most important thing was how to adopt the most efficient approach with least costs. At the same time, Baoying needed to attract foreign investment. If the above measures have been conducted properly,  Baoying could get a new life.
Interviewer: So after determining that Baoying’s crisis was not an incurable disease, you began to take over Baoying?
