Chapter 1 Introduction 

1.1 Research background 
English  learning  requires  people  to  master  the  skills  of  writing,  listening, speaking  and  reading,  and  writing  lays  the  foundation  for  the  others  and  is  also  the best one to embody the ability of students’ comprehensive application. In senior high school,  English  writing  is  an  essential  part  of  language  competence  for  students  to improve their grades, accounting for 25 scores in college entrance examination, which can  reflect  students’  integrated  language  level  and  help  students’  study  language effectively.  Therefore,  more  and  more  attention  should  be  paid  to  senior  English writing  teaching.  Otherwise,  English  writing  is  also  an  effective  way  to  exercise  the abilities of students’ logical thinking and analysis.  As  far  as  New  English  Curriculum  Criterion  is  concerned,  researchers  need  to pay  more  attention  to  the  studies  of  the  learning  process  and  the  writing  teaching methods. The cultivation of senior high school students’ English writing ability is the key to develop their ability of English expression and is also the important standard of measuring  the  quality  of  English  teaching.  Curriculum  standard,  which  is  short  for “ordinary  high  school  English  curriculum  standard  (tests)”,  made  the  explicit stipulations about English writing: be able to write coherent and complete essays, and use  smooth  and  normative  sentences  to  describe  things  or  express  views;  be  able  to describe  characters,  graphs  or  events,  and  make  a  simple  comment;  be  able  to  write practical  writings,  such  as  letters  and  general  notice;  be  able  to  fill  in  the  personal information  form,  such  as  the  application  form;  be  able  to  rearrange  the  text  into  a short drama in the form of group; be able to write a report or a summary according to reading articles and so on.
