4.1 Results and discussion of the pre-test and pre-questionnaire
The researcher uses the test results which the students take in March as the pre-testdata. There are totally 44 students in class six,where there are 31 boys and 13 girls. Thefollowing is the pre-test result. The average score of the whole class is 87.4 (full score is 150). The highest score is115.5 and the lowest score is 47.9. It is obvious that there is a big difference betweenthem. A few boys,around 4 students, are extremely poor in English. Among the studentswho are poor in English,some students are really good at physics, math and chemistry.The author want to make a research about the students' perception of the current Englishclassroom climate and according to the result make some adaptations to stimulatelearners' learning interests and activate their motivation in English learning by creatinga positive classroom climate through improving both the physically environment andthe psychological environment. The researcher sends out 44 questionnaires in class sixand all the 44 questionnaires are valid. In the beginning of the term, the student most ofthe time keeps silent in the English class even when the teacher asks question unlesscalled. Through the questionnaires, the author is trying to find the reasons and try outnew means to stimulate their learning interests. The questionnaire can be divided intofour dimensions: teacher participation,teacher support,student participation andclassroom discipline as well as cooperation in teaching and learning.

Conclusion


There are a great number of researches about the influence of the classroomenvironment on students' academic performance and many educationalists are trying toexplore the ways to create a positive, supportive and harmonious classroomenvironment to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and learning. Mostof them are done in the primary school,only a few is done in High school.
