COT, the third sub-theory, describes individual differences in people’s tendencies to orient toward environments and regulate behavior in various ways. Fourth, BPNT elaborates the concept of evolved psychological needs and their relations to psychological health and well-being. Although it was proposed relatively late, BPNT is the core mini-theory in SDT. And it is an important foundation of many researches in SDT. The fifth mini-theory, GCT, is the recent development of SDT. It grows out of the distinctions between intrinsic and extrinsic goals and their impact on motivation and wellness.

2.2 Autonomy Support
Autonomy support is a concept derived from SDT. In the field of psychology in western countries, autonomy support has become a hot spot for the studies on motivation or personality. But in China, autonomy support is still a relatively new concept. Many researches have confirmed that autonomy support can exert positive effects in different context. In this part, the definition of autonomy support and the positive effects of autonomy support in different contexts will be introduced. Up to now, there isn’t a unified definition for autonomy support. But the main connotation is invariable. The authorities offer a series of supportive behaviors to fulfill receivers’ autonomy needs and to improve their intrinsic motivation. Researchers defined autonomy support through different kind of studies. In earliest studies, Deci etc.(1981) described the behaviors that support children’s autonomy as adults encourage children to think over questions and lead them to find the way of solving the questions. During the establishment process of SDT, researchers (1985) defined autonomy support as: authorities can accept the viewpoint of people in receiving positions, experience others’ feelings, providing information and choice for others in a not controlling way. From the perspective of receivers, Mageau and Vallerand(2003) defined perceived autonomy support as: students or learners believe that their teachers, parents or friends support their autonomy motivation, provide them the opportunity of choice, encourage them to solve questions on their own and participate in making a decision, understand their feelings and avoid pressured de
