Chapter four Results and Discussion 

In  this  chapter,  firstly  the  results  of  the  questionnaire  will  be  presented  in accordance  with  the  first  research  question.  And  the  discussion  will  be  put  forward according  to  the  results.  Secondly,  the  coding  results  and  discussion  of  the  video recordings  of  the  English  classes  will  be  presented  to  answer  the  second  research question.  Finally,  the  results  of  the  questionnaire  and  the  video  recordings  will  be compared  in  order  to  find  out  the  differences  between  them.  And  the  results  of  the interview  will  be  analyzed  to  find  out  the  factors  that  influence  English  teachers’ autonomy-supportive behaviors.  

4.1 Teachers’ Perception of Their Autonomy-supportive Behaviors in English Class

This section will show English teachers’ perception of their autonomy-supportive behaviors  in  class.  The  results  will  be  presented  from  two  broad  categories:  teachers’ perception  of  their  autonomy-supportive  behaviors  and  teachers’  perception  of  their autonomy-controlling behaviors. As we have known in chapter 3, the questionnaire used in  this  study  can  be  divided  into  three  parts.  The  first  part  is  to  learn  the  background information of the participants.
