Executive Summary:

As we all know, computer technology becomes more and more important in the hospitality industry. Thus, many hotel front offices prefer to use evectional reservation system instead of the traditional ways. Technology benefits, such as front office information processing, gather and monitor information in order to forecast the demand and compare the pricing strategy. In this report, it focuses on the positive and negative changes by using high-tech in the hotel front office, different affect from the changes, how to make accurate forecasting data through the Global Distribution System in hospitality industry and how to solve the price competition problem.

Background:

Technology was used in varieties of global industries in the decade years. The Internet is emerging as a powerful connecting force, allowing firms to serve customers, collaborate with partners and suppliers, and empower employees more effectively than ever before. (Zabin, 2002, p. 313) Although travel agents will continue to book room by telephone in published guides, more and more hotel rooms could be booked electronically. This has impacted the core technology used in the service production and delivery process; consequently, the landscape of the service industry has changed and more and more firms have become technologically oriented in their service production and delivery functions. (Chathoth, 2007, p 396).
