汉语语境中初中生英语现在完成时短期磨损研究

摘要:本文是英语语言学论文,现在完成时的语言磨损研究在初二升初三的学生中进行,这些学生经过两个月的放假时间。数据收集分两部分进行:(1)第一次测试在暑假之前进行主要是测试学生对现在完成时的掌握程度;(2)第二次测试采用和第一次相同的试卷,但在两个月之后进行。
1. Introduction
1.1 Origin of the Study
The study of language attrition in the past decades has become a sub-field of linguistics since the conference of Pennsylvania University in 1980. Language attrition is the weakening or loss of a language which happens not only to the individual person but also the speech community. It includes two kinds of attrition: foreign language and mother tongue. But as a field it is relative young. Second language attrition has gained a more favorable state in recent years because of its valuable insights on second language learning when compared with the first language attrition. And research on second language attrition has gained many fruitful achievements. In the theoretical aspects, researchers have made many contributions and many empirical studies have been done concerning the process of attrition, the methods of testing attrition and some factors affecting language attrition. But only a few researches have done empirical studies in the following aspects: the attrition of vocabulary, the attrition of grammar like the ED form and the ING form in the Chinese context. Among them the studies about the attrition of vocabulary are done many more times than other aspects, because the data collection is easier. Concerning grammar, the present perfect tense is a common aspect that foreign language lear ners find difficult to grasp because of the complications caused by verbs, like yet, already. This paper tries to explore the present perfect tense attrition among the junior high school students.

1.2 Significance
From the theoretical aspect, this study confirmed the existence of “Critical Threshold”, which suggests that once one’s language proficiency reaches the threshold, the attrition in language will not easily occur. The theory is proposed by Neisser (1984). This study will verify the theory from the study-JHS students’ attrition of English PPT tense in the Chinese context, though its threshold value still need further investigate. China is a country which has the largest population of English learners in the world. From the practical value, it has some benefits from the following aspects.
