Chapter Four Results and Discussion 

4.1 Component of Teachers’ PPK 

By analyzing three pre-service teachers’ written documents and the interview after they hand in their written documents, we have mapped out their PPK. According to the components of teaching, we divide teachers’ PPK into four parts: knowledge of self, knowledge of students, knowledge of milieu and knowledge of instruction. Teacher A is 24 years old. She has been studying English for twelve years since middle  school.  She  has  a  strict  English  teacher  in  junior  school,  who  has  a  great influence on her. She does well in study especially in English. In the high school, she has never  thought that she will  choose English as her  major  nor that she will  be an English teacher. Now that she chooses it, she decides to do it well. She treats herself very seriously and requires herself to study even during the weekend. She graduates from a normal university as an English major and gets the certificate to be an English teacher. During the last year of the undergraduate study, teacher A carries out a two months’ teaching practice as an English teacher in a middle school and this experience strengthens her idea of being an English teacher.
