CONCLUSION 

In this chapter, we attempt to end the present study with a summary. Firstly, some conclusions will be drawn in the light of previous quantitative and qualitative analysis. Secondly,  limitations  of  the  present  study  and  suggestions  for  further  studies  will  be indicated. In this study, we conduct a multimodal discourse analysis of the title sequences in Wild China. With an in-depth analysis in the chapters above, we now make a summary as follows. Firstly,  the  representational  meaning,  interactive  meaning  and  compositional meaning of the title sequences in Wild China are realized by virtue of multimodality.  In  terms  of  representational  meaning,  the  meaning  of  images  is  realized  through narrative  process  and  conceptual  process.  With  the  presence  of  vectors,  narrative images in title sequences of  Wild China can represent some actions and phenomena to viewers,  such  as  people’s  daily  life,  different  cultures  and  current  ecological environment  in  various  regions,  all  of  which  belong  to  the  theme  related  details. Conceptual images are realized through  classificational process, analytical process and symbolic  process,  aiming  to  express  some  stable  and  generalized  characters,  for instance, national spirit, people’s wisdom as well as producer’s desire for future. In a word,  the  utilization  of  multimodality  in  title  sequences  of  Wild  China  serves  to represent  reality  as  well  as  the  theme  of  environmental  protection  and  cultural transmission to viewers.
