 text  centered  translational  eco-environment  mainly  reflected  in  the selection  from  text  style,  the  publishing  house,  the  social  backgrounds  and  target readers.  The  translator-centered  translational  eco-environment  including  multi-dimensional  transformation  which  are  linguistic  dimension,  cultural  dimension  and communicative dimension. 

5.1 Translational Eco-environment 

According  to  Hu  Gengshen,  there  are  two  translational  eco-environment  that should be discussed. The TAS  include  the adaptation  of translator to  the source text, and selection to the target text. In the thesis, the translators’’ adaptation was towards the source  text  of  HLM,  and  selection  made  by  translators.  So  the  translational  eco-environment  should  including  HLM-centered  translational  eco-environment  and translator-centered translational eco-environment. As in the HLM-centered translational eco-environment, the translator are selected by the source text for their abilities. Also, the adaptation of source text from translators could also help them to accomplish a smooth translation. Translators should adapt to the text style of the source text so as to decide on one specific translation style for his target text. And translators should also adapt to their target readers for providing them with proper and acceptable translation. The requirements of publishing house will also press an influence on translators to make adjustments on their target text.

Conclusion 

Translators need to adapt and select during the process of translation in order to survive in the competition. Three versions of translations of HLM character names reflect the adaptation and selection of translators. The degree of multi-dimensional transformation and translators’ quality have provided us with two Reference criterion in analyzing the quality of translations of HLM character names in three versions. Each  translator  has  adapted  to  the  eco-environment  so  as  to  select  the  optimal target text. Hawkes achieves the highest degree of multi-dimensional transformation of 38.76 %( see table 4.3-1). And the level of translators’ quality is Yang ≈ Hawkes > Joly. The degree of integral adaption and selection of each version is Hawkes > Yang > Joly. It indicates that according to the theory of TAS, the fittest survivor among three versions is David Hawkes’ version. He ensures the readability and enjoyment of HLM translation of character names with his proficiency in translators’ quality and the highest degree of the multi-dimensional transformation.
