To large extent, when Georgedecided to shoothis best companion by himself, he had already realized that that Lennie cannot be accepted in such a dirty world(Charlotte, 1995).Though he al-ways says” honest. I am” and he means no harm, he can’t live easily in this unfairworld. The most unforgettable scene is that before Lennie dead, he still talked about the dream for the future, about a little place, a pig, a chicken and the rabbits. Every thing he repeated started with ‘we’, I can imagine thatGeorge has tremendous difficulty bringing himself to destroy Lennie(Joseph, 1963), because the real meaning of death for him is not killhis companion —Lennie, but also destroy his dream, his everything, which dreamt for long time.
