more detailed and technical investigation.

 - Where possible, seek first-hand knowledge, by means of interviews and visits.

 - Make notes during or immediately after any interview or visit, to consolidate what has been heard, discussed or observed.  If uncertainties or sources of possible confusion remain, arrange return visits.

 - Do not expect constantly to be told how to proceed.

 - Always remember that the project tests your ability, not only to carry out a competent piece of work, but also to reflect on the process of carrying it out, and the contribution made by OR.  You might find it helpful to keep and a project diary, setting out what has been achieved each week.

1.4: Ethics and the University Ethics Policy

The University has developed a policy on ethical issues that arise in the context of research on and with human beings. It is important that students are aware that, depending on the nature of their project, they may fall under the formal guidelines and may have to seek ethics committee approval for their project.

Students must ensure that all investigatory procedures involving humans, for example including questionnaires, interviews, etc, are discussed and agreed with their supervisors beforehand. Under some circumstances further approval is required either from the Departmental Ethics Committee, or from the University Ethics Committee. The Chair of the University Committee has issued some guidance about when an investigation requires approval. The most important points of this guidance are that approval would be required if
-The investigation or treatment is ‘over and above’ the normal range of activities which would be conducted by the professional practitioner within that context;
-Supervision of the trainees’ work is relatively loose, permitting trainees to use their own discretion about investigatory procedures or forms of treatment which are outwith the range of options specified by the supervisor.
-When any aspect of the investigation falls within the remit of 5.1 of the Code of Practice and renders it eligible for consideration by UEC (e.g. vulnerable participants, use of stressful techniques).
Therefore, when following normal professional practice under close supervision in Management Science projects we would not normally expect that ethical approval is necessary. Externally financed projects and those involving the health service will require consideration in the first instance by the departmental ethics committee.

More information can be found from the University Ethics Committee website:

1.5: Group projects

If the project is arranged on a group basis, the group may submit a single project report to the client.  However, each individual student must produce a separate introductory and methodological section (see below).  Students completing group projects may also undergo a viva.

1.6: Internal projects

All the above points apply to projects carried out within the Department, except that the supervisor also, in effect, fulfils the role of "client".

2: DISSERTATIONS

2.1: Overall Structure

Reflecting the aims of the project itself, the dissertation must consist of the following three self-contained documents.  (Note that dissertations produced prior to 论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
