This report is a consultancy report consisted of 8 parts.
Part 1 describes the definition and current state of the third party logistics.
Part 2 describes the research aim and focus
Part 3 introduces the methodology. In this dissertation, we mainly use case study and related theories to do the research. Why to use such method and the advantages and disadvantages are also introduced in this part.
Part 4 represents literature review. 1.0 Introduction & Background
1.1 Definition of the Third party Logistics
From the word-to-word meaning, the third party logistics company means the professional enterprises relational with goods, besides consigners and consignees. That is to say the third-part logistics is a kind of logistics form who takes on company logistics activities. So the third party logistics can be generalized defined as ex-logistics providers who provide part or the whole logistics services.
Such definition makes the third party logistics company containing the providers of transportation, storage, production distribution, and financial affairs. ( Regan, A.C. and R.A. Garrido 2000)
1.2 Current State of the Third party Logistics
According to the 2000 statistics, the expenditure of logistics was $3750 billion in the whole world, and the third party logistics market was $207 approximately 5.5% of the whole expenditure. By 2002, the world logistics expenditure increased to $4000 billion, and the third party lo
