ABSTRACT
With the continuous progress of world finance integration and the improvement of the global transportation facility and network, the international logistics industry has been demonstrating its unprecedented energy and potentiality.
International freight forwarder, which is an indispensable component of the whole logistic process, is the organizer and designer of international transportation. It is also the bridge between international trade and transportation. International freight forwarders transport world’s 80% of the trading volume nowadays.
In China, international freight forwarding is relatively young, with a very short history of around twenty years; however, it has grown up to a blooming industry. Through cooperation with the for英语论文网 【http://www.51lunwen.org】eign owned logistics enterprise, Chinese international logistics companies have introduced their advanced management ideas and experience to those Chinese state owned logistic companies, thus also brought changes to the operation process and service quality in this trade, which obviously shorten the distance between the logistics trade in home and abroad.
Year 2006 is the first year that China’s international freight forwarding industry opens generally to the whole world. Thus, the in burst of foreign forwarders and the increasing competitors will have the former industrial pattern broken. This will be great chances as well as challenges to China’s international forwarders that are mainly not large scaled.
Meanwhile, international freight forwarding in China has lots of problems recently, e.g. disunity of the related regulation, disordered management, relatively weak competitiveness, small scale, low informational level, the lack of professional practitioners. What is the right way for China’s international freight forwarding under all these circumstances? This is the problem we must solve, so that to develop China’s economy.
Based on the basic theory on agency and international freight forwarding, I would like to introduce here the definition, character, business range and the functions of international freight forwarding.
