Workplace Diversity

As we all know, diversity encompasses race, gender, ethnic group, age, personality, cognitive style, tenure, organizational function, education, background and more. While diversity in the workplace brings about many benefits to an organization, it can also lead to many challenges. It is the responsibility of managers within organizations to use diversity as an influential resource in order to enhance organizational effectiveness. In the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, C.L. Walck defines managing diversity in the workplace as "Negotiating interaction across culturally diverse groups, and contriving to get along in an environment characterized by cultural diversity".
Workplace diversity refers to the variety of differences between people in an organization. The impact of workplace diversity has become popular in recent years.

Today, workplace diversity is no longer just about anti-discrimination compliance. Workplace diversity has taken on a new face.  Workplace diversity now focuses on inclusion and the impact on the bottom line. Leveraging workplace diversity is increasingly seen as a vital strategic resource for competitive advantage. More companies are linking workplace diversityhttps://www.51lunwen.org/marketing/2012/0522/1606414402.html  to their strategic goals and objectives--and holding management accountable for results. Thus, HR plays a key role in diversity management and Leadership to create and empower an organizational culture that fosters a respectful, inclusive, knowledge-based environment where each employee has the opportunity to learn, grow and meaningfully contribute to the organization's success.

Conclusion
Summary, we can see that ignoring diversity issues costs time, money, and efficiency. Some of the consequences can include unhealthy tensions; loss of productivity because of increased conflict; inability to attract and retain talented people of all kinds; complaints and legal actions; and inability to retain valuable employees, resulting in lost investments in recruitment and training.
