According to R.K.Rajput scientific management can be defined as systematic approach to manage the firm on simple rational decision, basic observation and primary experimentation. The way based on guess work, error and trial must be avoided. Scientific management stated by Frederick Winslow Taylor (1991-1947) described a method scientifically method finding 'one best way to do a job'. Taylor, the father of scientific management was born on 20 March 1865, in Philadelphia. Taylor started his career as a chief engineer at the Midvale Steel Works before moving to the Bethlehem Steel Company. At there, he carried out experiments to prove justifiability of scientific management. He had broken down the manual tasks into many set of component to be work out the process, and he had showed that the improvement of productivity. Taylor was famous of his book, 'The Principle of Scientific Management' which published at 1911. He was the first person in history who make systematic attempt to improve the productivity in factories. Taylor became known as the father of production management. His theory was called Taylorism.
It has been proposed by Dr. Mohammad H. Motaghi (2007) that Taylor's scientific management consisted of four principles. First, the development of a true science for each person's work, which replaces the old rule of thumb method. Second, the scientific selection, training, teaching and development of the workers rather than leaving them to train themselves. Third, cooperation with the workers to ensure works being done in according with the principles of the science. Forth, the division of work and responsibility between management and the workers. Taylorism is the body derived from scientific management involving simple, basic, and coordinated operations in factories.
