Media business opportunity. At present, student union newspaper cannot attract Chinese students’ eye, and the sales of student union newspaper in Chinese students group is rapidly going down. It tells us that the students’ union newspaper has not been suitable for Chinese students who are looking for a better proper newspaper for them.
In order to satisfy Chinese students’ needs, we were to design a new newspaper to attract Chinese students. This new newspaper is initially called “UCLAN Chinese Weekly” that covers Chinese students’ study, social life, and so on.
What to put
Culture is the main factor influencing consumers’ purchasing behavior. Culture is learned patterns of people’s behavior and the ways of thinking (Cronin, 1996). Chinese students who just came to UCLAN cannot well adapt to the new culture. In this case, the UCLAN Chinese Weekly should not imitate the form of Student Union Newspaper. For UCLAN Chinese Weekly, it should not only designed mixing Chinese culture, but also penetrating western culture. UCLAN Chinese Weekly completely choose internet as development plate pursuing new business opportunities, and adapt new media operation module transferring traditional shop-sales model to e-business, which significantly reduce costs and create more business opportunities. That is why UCLAN Chinese Weekly can success in facing such strong traditional students’ newspaper.
