One is use social network as a channel to spread the recruitment related information, for example, employers use Facebook, Twitter to public recruitment related information. The other one is professional networking websites, such as LinkedIn, the applicants build their profiles on the website, and use the properties of the social network to look for business opportunities, and also the recruiters use the website to look for the right profile or candidates.

LinkedIn is the most popular professional networking website and has been mostly frequently used by the applicants and the recruiters.

Firstly, the candidate can has its own professional profile, which includes the candidate’s basic information, working experience, education background, languages, skills and endorsements. The candidate can show themselves by this profile and can be found by the recruiters through their profiles. Then, the platform provides the candidates to build one or more social groups based on the relationships such as friends, school mates and so on. These groups can help the candidates to get or share the business opportunities among the members. Also, LinkedIn has tried to provide the resources and the opportunities for the candidates to build their career, for example LinkedIn for groups helps the interaction among the members of the groups, LinkedIn in Services helps the users to find service providers such as lawyers, accountants, LinkedIn discussion board helps the candidates who are in the same industry or have the same interest to communicate to promote each other’s career development. Lastly, LinkedIn provide a detail visit record, showing who has visited your profile, and this gives the candidates an opportunity to set up link to the recruiters and have a better chance to get the job.

For the recruiters, LinkedIn is a huge and dynamic database of candidates. The database contains 300 million members all over the world, and each member has a real and real-time updating professional profile. Through this database, the recruiters can search for the applicants with the skills or background that they want and contact with the applicants to make the recruitments.
