Art Class
The world famous painting Portrait of Orleans was painted by Edward Hopper in 1950. From the picture you can see a corner of Main Street in America. A traffic light with a bright yellow pillar stands upright in the middle. Behind the traffice light, there are two houses. The left one is a two-story house with two triangle roofs whilte the right one is a two-story house with a rectangular roof. Look at the left house. One roof is in dark blue while the other one with a chimney is in green. The first floor of the house is three stores, whose front walls and eaves are painted red orange, dark green and brown from the left to the right. A woman in green dress is looking at the window of the store in brown. Time seems still when you look at her and her enternally fixed posture. The right side wall of the house, which is faced diractly against the traffic light, is painted brown. A white clock with dark blue frame is embeded in the front wall of the second floor, which is painted light orange with a red strip crossing in the middle.To the left of this two-story house are two white subordinate houses with the roofs painted green and brown, respectively. A black car is parked in front of the small house under a green roof. Across the street, the other black car is parked beside a white garage under a dark blue roof.

Look at the right house behind the traffic light. It is a two-story house with a rectangular roof, four doors on the first floor and seven windows on the second floor. The left part of the house, covering a door and three windows with white curtains, is painted light orange. While the right part of the house, covering two doors in white and four windows in green, is painted white. One of the four green windows has a white curtain, and the others have yellow curtains. The rightmost door, whose dark triangle roof is supported by two green pillars, is stretched out from the front wall. A small lawn is set in front of the house. A telegraph pole in dark brown, more than two times higher than the traffic light, stands beside it and against the lawn. A street lamp is extended from the upper part of the telegraph. A warehouse with a purple polygonal roof is located between the rectangular house and the house with two triangle roofs.

In front of the traffic light there is a street, across which the other traffic light supported by a yellow pillar stands beside several tires. Two red strips are encircled in the upper part of the yellow pillar. A modern logo marked ESSO in orange is prominently hung above the other traffic light, which may symbolize the industial development of villages and towns in America after the Second World War.

In the background of the picture, https://www.51lunwen.org/mgzuoye/ there are trees tossing in the wind. The sky is evenly light blue and the air is still and steady. The landscape and character in this picture are harmonious, constituting a peaceful and quiet portrait.
